My trip to Papua New Guinea reminded me what’s waiting on the other side of discomfort: the real, aligned, unstoppable version of me.

As a teenager, one of my first jobs was working at McDonald's and I loved it! It was a fun job with great co-workers, and I loved making my own money. What I didn’t know at the time, was the lasting impression it would make on me.

When I was a little girl, my grandmother from Denmark visited us. I only spoke English and she only spoke Danish so you’d think we would have a hard time communicating – and we did – with word. But, with nonverbal cues – we could communication beautifully.

Eight years ago, I was in a huge state of transition. I was closing my first business, developing Brand Camp, launching Lab Creative and hiring a designer. I was terrified and exhilarated…

I was pushed to my limit and found my purpose in a bowl of oatmeal. My alarm range at 3:30am. It was dark and cold and unfamiliar. I wiped the sleep from my eyes and joined the others for coffee and prepared for the challenging trek ahead. At 4am with our headlamps on, we began the hours long hike to the summit.

It’s time to expose the true version of you and share it with the world.

We all have many sides, and we often only show the one we think will help us fit in and be liked. It’s a defence mechanism to keep us safe. And keeping us safe is our brain’s job.

I don’t always travel 28 hours to give a workshop…this one was worth it.

What do you think or feel when you hear the word, “Enough?” 

I had an interesting conversation about the word “enough” when I was in Greenland. Someone posed a question to the group about when, “Enough is enough”.

Adventure and connection are two things that are very important to me. But I haven’t really had much of either for the past 18 months because well… you know.

Over the holidays, I worked on cleaning and decluttering our basement and in the process, I came across my old journal from when I was recovering from my car accident 25 years ago.

Today is a big day for me....it’s my ‘25th’ birthday. On November 12, 1995 I was in a head-on collision with a drunk driver and almost died. So while I lived for 18 years before the accident, I came to life on this date 25 years ago. It was the birth of the new me.

Yesterday was a significant day in my life. On November 12th, 1995 – 23 years ago – I was hit by a drunk driver and my life was changed forever.

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you felt like a total rock star? Everything in your business and life is going your way and you are feeling great and powerful?

So much of the time we are emptying the well, but giving so much of ourselves can leave us depleted emotionally, physically, spiritually and creatively.

I LOVE typography and was thrilled when an opportunity came up for me to teach this subject at George Brown College here in Toronto.

I’ve learned so much about myself and about running my business in 2017 and I wanted to share the top 7 things I learned this year.

My opinion – based on years of experience as a designer, entrepreneur and branding expert – is actually what people pay me for. (And our design work is a product of that well-honed viewpoint.)

Last Sunday I had an EPIC day! It had nothing to do with business or branding and yet, it somehow made me think about these things. Ahhh, the life of an entrepreneur!
